What is the best lighting for a restaurant?

Our brief on this project was to provide this restaurant with a new lease of life. Over the years, Legoland have received complaints from guests that the restaurant was too dark. As a team, we had to think about the best solution that offered diners an immersive dining experience that was parallel with the theme of their holiday. We decided that the best lighting for this restaurant would be colourful to embody the spirit of Legoland.

How to select the best right restaurant lighting

After initial discussions with the Legoland Facilities team, we decided that a full lighting lux level survey was required to ascertain what the lighting levels were currently within the various areas of the Restaurant. 

MEL then worked closely with Kosnic Lighting and our key suppliers to produce a lighting design that we felt would be fit for purpose. Careful consideration was required to ensure that the new fittings were going to be fully compatible with the restaurant’s lighting control system; ‘Evolution’, manufactured by Mode Lighting.  We followed up our design work with a mock installation of the proposed light fittings to ensure we had interpreted the requirements fully and met Legoland’s expectations. 

Once the Hotel closed for its regular planned maintenance in January 2025, we were able to commence our works. A great level of attention to detail and planning was required to ensure we delivered this project within a strict timeframe. Our thanks go to our approved electricians Lewis and Callum who managed to deliver the project on time working closely with our Contracts and Project Management team.
